EBR 1190SX naked superbike launched at USD 16,995

The EBR 1190SX naked ‘superfighter’ based on the track-bred 1190RX was unveiled last month at an event in Indianapolis. However the American superbike maker, who also happens to be Hero Motocorp’s technical partner, stopped short of releasing details about the motorcycle.

The EBR 1190SX is the naked version of the 1190RX.
EBR has now launched the superbike at USD 16,995 (around INR 10.15 lakhs) and has also revealed the specifications. As expected, the 1190SX inherits its faired sibling’s 1190 cc 72-degree V-Twin engine that has 185 hp and 138 Nm of torque in store. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission by means of a wet multi-plate slipper clutch. The engine employs EBR’s proprietary Controlled Swirl Injection (CSI) which results in better power, fuel economy and reduced emissions.

The 1190SX tips the scale at 187.7 kg which is 6.8 kg lighter than the 1190RX. The naked bike gets a wider handlebar which makes for a more upright riding position.

Visually, the 1190SX is alike the fully faired RX, excluding the new LED headlamp and a radiator housing (necessitated due to the absence of the fairing).
Typical EBR features like hubless front wheel with rim mounted disc rotor and off-set rear monoshock suspension are carried over.
Deliveries of the EBR 1190SX in the US will begin this month. Competition would come from the KTM Super Duke 1290 and the BMW S1000R.
