Fiat will launch the refreshed Punto in the coming weeks with comprehensive updates to the exterior and interior. The facelifted Punto will be called the Fiat Punto Evo, a name that was first seen on the refreshed European spec Punto in 2009, but isn’t used any longer.
The B+ segment hatchback is adorned with redesigned headlights, a Viaggio-inspired grille, new front and rear bumpers, tweaked taillights, a new body color and wing mirrors with integrated turn signals.
Inside, the Punto gets the same dashboard as the 2014 Linea. However, where the Linea gets beige plastics, the Punto seen in these images gets an all-black layout. Speaking of new features, the new Punto is confirmed to feature a rear AC vent as seen in these pictures, and is only the second hatchback in India (after the Grand i10) to have them.
The model seen here is the 90 hp diesel variant as the badging is visible on the bootlid. Powertrain improvements aren’t expected on the refreshed Punto. The diesel engine powering the Punto is a 1.3-liter four-cylinder motor making 75 PS in the regular state and 90 PS in the higher tuned stage. Fiat also offers 1.2- and 1.4-liter petrol engines that sell in moderate numbers. All engines get a standard 5-speed manual transmission.
The Punto Evo and the Avventura launch within the next two months.
Competition: Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, VW Polo, Honda Jazz, Tata Bolt
Expected Price: INR 5-7.5 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi
